1st KFM-based Automatic Detection of Gastrointestinal Parasites

PICUS Lab is pleased to introduce the first edition of the AI-KFM Challenge. The aim of this competition is to perform the detection of faecal eggs of gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) in cattle, based on RGB images acquired using the KFM, an automated microscope designed together with the veterinary department of the Federico II University. This edition will be hosted by the ICIAP 2021 conference. More info and links to the challenge below.

Picuslab@35th edition of Futuro Remoto held on November 24 and 25, 2021.

Picuslab participated in the 35th edition of Futuro Remoto held on November 24 and 25, 2021.

  • On 24/11/2021 from 9 am to 2 pm, the project "𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆-𝗻𝗲𝘁: 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮 𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲" was presented. In this presentation, we showed how artificial intelligence techniques can support the physician's work in the diagnosis of oncological diseases. In particular, we performed a real demonstration of the whole process, starting from the diagnostic examination for image acquisition up to the analysis of these images with deep learning systems.
  • On 27/11/2021, from 9 am to 5 pm, we presented Deepfake: avatars in the real world. We showed, through a practical demonstration, the deep learning techniques behind the generation of "fake" video and audio in real time.

Best poster award assigned to Ms. Michela Gravina from VisMac2020

After a thorough evaluation, the organizer of the Summer School VisMac2020 are pleased to notify that the poster presentation titled "Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Image Processing" by Ms. Michela Gravina was judged the best work, ex aequo with the work by Mr. Lorenzo Stacchio.

Federico II partner of Human Centered Artificial Intelligence Masters

The University of Naples "Federico II" is a partner of the European project Human Centered Artificial Intelligence Masters (HCAIM) that, together with other European universities, research centers and companies, will create a cutting-edge training path to enable graduates to develop advanced artificial intelligence systems, with the right combination of technological skills and ethical knowledge.

The goal of the HCAIM master's program is to strengthen analytical, design, and creative skills to realize artificial intelligence innovations that can integrate human-centered systems and applications. Indeed, in a data-rich world, artificial intelligence can help solve significant societal challenges, but it can also pose risks. The use of AI must therefore take into account legal and ethical aspects, while respecting human rights.
